Brainstorming…
Okay, so I have been working on an idea for a new website dedicated to something I love… Stickjockery.
What is Stickjockery?
Stickjockery is what I like to call the combination of the sports Dagorhir and Belegarth. In these sports we build foam-padded weapons and fight with them. It’s a combination of athleticism and imagination that allows a fighter to reach an adrenaline rush unattainable through any other sport. Is it nerdy? I suppose most “normal” people would say so. Regardless, it’s a great way to get out and have fun with your friends as well as getting much needed exercise.
The New Website.
Mission: Build a Youtube specifically for Dagorhir and Belegarth.
I have already designed the website, I just need to get it up and rolling. I am trying to contact some Youtube users that have Dag and Bel videos up to see if they would be willing to re-upload them to my website. I will be separating general videos from fighting instructional videos and weapon building tutorials. I also intend to write a weapon ruleset for building weapons that pass for both sports for all the cross-gamers out there like myself.
Along with the video upload capability, I would like to create a web series to go with it. I’ll be hiring a couple of cameramen and somebody to edit all of the footage. I’d like to take this crew to Bel and Dag realms all over the country to interview the best fighters getting their best battle tips and tricks. I’ll be covering regional fighting differences, all weapon styles (yep, all of ‘em… There has to be somebody out there that can fight well with a staff :-P), and building tips. I’ll also be taking suggestions and requests for new episodes and realms to visit.
Future ideas include cross-game, international waiver IDs; national tournaments for cash prizes; and cross-country circuit tourneys.
